Ports Minister Michael Lobo has said Goa has got a bad name because of some domestic tourists who come in open vehicles.
“These are not tourists. They drive down because they think they can do anything in Goa. They can cook in the parking lot of the tourism department or cook and defecate in the fields and sit in the parking lot…,” he rued.
He said this perception has to change and he was ready to do that by taking all stakeholders into confidence.
The coastal MLA also said that the beaches were overcrowded and the charm was in the hinterland.
“We have to explore the rivers and backwaters of Goa,” he opined.
