Statistics released by the Central Statistics Department revealed that inflation in Goa is the fourth lowest among States in India.
The inflation rate in Goa was 3.03 percent in the month of September while it averaged at 5.02 percent for the entire country.
According to the report, Chhattisgarh had the lowest inflation rate at 1.98 percent followed by Arunachal Pradesh (2.57 percent), Sikkim (2.94 percent), Goa (3.03 percent), Jammu and Kashmir (3.46 percent), West Bengal (3.66 percent), Madhya Pradesh (3. 67 percent) and Assam (4.39 percent).
On the other hand, Manipur which has been hit by ethnic violence for several months had the highest inflation rate at 9.53 percent in September.
Rajasthan (6.53 percent) had the second highest rate followed by Haryana (6.49 percent), Karnataka (6 percent), Telangana (5.97 percent), Odisha (5.87 percent), Uttarakhand (5.56 percent), Bihar (5 .53 percent), Punjab (5.48 percent) and Uttar Pradesh (5.45 percent).
Delhi had the lowest inflation rate of 2.24 percent among Union Territories and is followed in that category by Lakshadweep with a 2.72 percent inflation rate. Andaman-Nicobar Islands (3.4 percent), Puducherry (4.77 percent), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (5.76 percent).
The wholesale inflation rate report is released every month by the Central Statistics Office and in September it was the lowest in the last three months.
