With Goa often on alerts given its location on the coast and several lakh domestic and international tourists arriving all-round the year, Goa Police have decided to tag every hotel, guest house, and lodge with a new software ‘Pathik’.
The software, developed by its counterparts in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) Police, is soon to be launched in the State and with steps already initiated, Goa Police called for a meeting with the stakeholders to explain the benefits of this software.
Director General of Police Jaspal Singh also took the opportunity to insist that the owners ensure the filling of C-forms for every foreign guest.
The software will ensure complete details of a guest such as names, addresses, mobile numbers, identity cards, period of stay, etc.
“It is expected that implementation of Pathik software would be of great help in ensuring the safety of citizens as well as tourists through better prevention and detection. In view of this, it is necessary to discuss with the stakeholders especially hoteliers about the benefits of this software,” Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh said in a note to the Districts Superintendents of Police ahead of the meeting held on Friday morning that saw attendance of hundreds of stakeholders.
The software is currently being used by the Gujarat Police through which, they get real-time information about each guest who has checked in to any hotel or accommodation centres.
“It is mandatory for the hotels and the guest houses to enter the names and addresses of the guests in the software. The information will flash at the nearby police stations, and there will be no need to personally visit these places to get inputs on guests if any untoward incident occurs or if the police need to track any suspect,” an officer said while addressing the attendees.
