Raising strong objection to the National Coastal Zone Management Authority (NCZMA) decision of rejecting the Goa government's plea to delimit the port area, Aam Aadmi Party has demanded that the Mormugoa Port should be developed as a Pharma hub and not a coal hub.
"Goa should be made a Pharma hub rather than a coal hub. We don't want Goa to become a coal hub", said Venzy Viegas, AAP leader.
Venzy said that the government should have discussed this issue of rejection of Goa's plea in the assembly by putting a private member resolution.
However, the government is silent on the issue for the last two days, he said.
Viegas said that once AAP candidates get elected, the party will come up with a resolution in the assembly regarding the issue.
AAP leader Sandesh Telekar said that the people living near the port will be affected by the decision of NCZMA.
