With the mercury heading north and tipping the 35 degrees centigrade mark intermittently for nearly a week, Goa has been sweltering in the grip of an intense heat wave.
On Friday, the Met department reported that the maximum temperature over 24 hours in the capital city was 33.4 degrees centigrade which was 0.1 degree higher than the average. The minimum temperature in these 24 hours was also 1.5 degrees higher than the normal at 26.6 degrees centigrade.
Heat wave conditions can trigger health issues in humans and the State’s health department has already issued advisories urging citizens to heavily hydrate themselves regularly. The health advisories have also asked people to avoid consumption of too much tea or other hot beverages.
