The Government of India desires to build the concept of New India @75, with efficient, transparent and accountable governance to commemorate 75 years of Independence. To contribute to this, National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) through the State AIDS Control Society (SACS) launched the awareness campaign in a 3-phased manner through online engagement and mobilisation of 25 govt schools i.e. class 9th & 11th students and student members from 25 Red Ribbon Clubs (RRC) constituted in colleges on HIV, Tuberculosis (TB) & Blood Donation (BD) virtually on August 12.
Goa SACS has formed a NewIndia@75 State level committee on July 27 wherein an online meeting was held with committee members consisting of Dr Geeta Kakodkar, Project Director, Goa SACS as chairperson, Jeunesse D. Fernandes, Asst. Dir. (Youth Affairs), the Convener, Nodal In charges from Collectorate North & South, and various departments related with Youth like Dir. Education, Dir. Higher Education, Women & Child Development, State Tuberculosis Programme Officer, Goa University, NSS, NCC, SBTC, NYKS, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Social Welfare, Goa College of Fine Arts, NGO’s from South and North, Information & Publicity Dept & other Goa SACS Officers.
Circulars have been issued by the Directorate of Education and Directorate of Higher Education to direct Principals of schools, Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) and colleges from the North, Central and South Education Zones in Goa to select Nodal Teachers and 3 student brand ambassadors/ peer educators one each for HIV, TB, BD for the smooth conduct of the activities during Phase I of the campaign from August 13 to August 18.
Activities have been planned in Phase 1 at college level for Red Ribbon Club student members like the All Goa District Quiz Competition on August 18.
