The Goa government is hoping to raise Rs 100 crore and has offered government securities up for auction through the Reserve Bank of India.
The securities are of 10 year tenure.
The amount is meant to fund the State's capital expenditure related to government projects.
The apex bank of the country will conduct the auction at its Mumbai office on November 24.
Hit by the pandemic's impact and the Centre's default on paying up the State's GST dues, the Goa government has opted to borrow approximately two per-cent of its GSDP in addition to the 3 per-cent ceiling fixed under the Goa Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (GFRBM) Act.
Recently, after clearance from the Centre, an ordinance was promulgated by the Governor to amend the GFRBM Act and raise the State's borrowing limit from 3 to 5 percent of the GSDP.
This is expected to give Chief Minister Pramod Sawant-led dispensation to borrow an additional Rs 1,500 crore in the current fiscal ending March 31, 2021.
