Pressing case for banning of EVMs in elections

The petitioner Advocate Mahmood Pracha has finally tasted victory in Supreme Court after his 40 petitions were rejected by the Supreme Court.  His petition against use of EVMs and use of ballot process as this process is like counting the slips from the VVPATs can be manipulated as thermal print can be changed after voter has seen while the paper trail is falling on the compartment of the VVPAT.  His argument is that if we can vote using a ballot paper with a mark on the ballot paper and fold and put in the ballot box than why do we need machine for voting process.  He says that if EVM machines go faulty than it goes to the company for repairs and there the chips can be changed and re -programming done hence raises eyebrows about the secrecy of the votes polled as the Director of the EVM company is a BJP man.  Advocate Pracha says he has not lost hope and asks the opposition parties to support him wholeheartedly to ban EVMs in our country so that there is fair and free polls and a level playing field for all political parties.
