Dr Bernard F Rodrigues begged a gold medal in the traditional Philately category and a bronze medal in the Thematic Philately category at the recently concluded MAHAPEX “ 2016, the 12th Philatelic exhibition of the Maharashtra Circle being held from January 16- 18 at the Postal Stores Depot premises at Upanagar, Nashik.
About 400 frames of exhibits comprising stamps were displayed from well-known philatelists from Maharashtra and Goa states. The four-frame exhibit presented by Dr Rodrigues on the topic ‘Jaipur Philately’ in the traditional philately category was awarded the gold medal, while a three-frame exhibit on the topic ‘Myco-Philately’ bagged the bronze medal. It may be noted that Dr Rodrigues was awarded a gold medal with special jury award at GOAPEX-2014, a district level exhibition held at Panaji in December 2014. He is a life member of the Goa Philatelic and Numerismatic Society and presently the Head of Botany Department at Goa University.
