MARGAO
Goa did not lag behind despite its small size and gave to the country an army general and now a defence minister. “Many told me there s nothing the state can boast of in the defence sector. I replied saying they re wrong. Goa has produced air marshals and admirals, an army general and now a defence minister,” he said, while addressing a gathering after inaugurating GFDC s residential academy at the Ravindra Bhavan, here, on Sunday. He, however, hastened to that certain people do not appreciate positive things happening in the state and only dig out things to spread negativity. “I feel that Goa should move forward through its huge talent base in all fields. Whenever in Goa, I see a lot of negativity given priority in the media,” Parrikar rued, but added that Goans have the capacity to perform in any field.Referring to the scam in the GCA, Parrikar recalled a scandal in the cricketing body when he was CM in 2001. “These scams happen because of money in cricket. Some people are giving cricket a bad name,” he added.
