MAPUSA: Exposing the ignorance of Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo vis a vis the construction of fishing jetty in Aldona, co-convener of Goencho Avaaz, Swapnesh Sherlekar referred to the answer tabled by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the Assembly stating that five jetties will be constructed across the State including in Aldona.
He also stated that as per the National Waterways Act, 2016, the central government has planned to convert inland waterways into national waterway, which includes six rivers in Goa including the Mapusa/Moira river, which makes it way to Aldona.
“In a reply to a question in the Assembly, the chief minister said jetties on various location in inland waters of Goa are at Ribandar, Old Goa, Banastarim, Borim, Shiroda, Durbhat Cortalim, Pilgaon, Aldona are proposed under Sagarmala programme and also, a consultant has been appointed for preparation of DPRs for the said jetties,” said Sherlekar, displaying the screen shot of the CM’s reply at the public meeting on Wednesday on Mapusa.
He said Goencho Avaaz had invited the Aldona MLA for the meeting to get authentic information and not to mislead the people with falsehoods.
Sherlekar disclosed that around 136 million tons of coal per year was required to service several power plants and steel manufacturing plants coming up along the Goa border in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
