The Konkan Railway police has arrested one more person in connection with the gold heist in the running train at Canacona and has managed to recover around 530 grams of gold, valued around Rs 30-odd lakh, besides cash of Rs 4 lakh.
Konkan Railway police station, DySP Gurudas Kadam said the police has arrested a native of Belagavi Saturday night and has managed to recover the gold and cash. The accused has been remanded to seven days police custody.
He said the 530 grams of gold has been recovered from the arrested person from Belagavi and another accused from Khanapur who was arrested earlier.
The police had last week arrested four persons, including a lady, in connection with the Rs 4 crore gold heist which had occurred in a running rain when the train had made a halt at the Canacona railway station for a crossing.
