MARGAO
Come Monday and the services dispensed by the Margao Urban Health Centre will be shifted to the old Hospicio building.
This comes a day after the façade of the Margao Urban Health Centre came crashing down on Saturday and the authorities are yet to conduct structural stability test of the UHC building.
In fact, Margao Urban Health Officer Dr Succorro Quadros supervised the shifting of basic medical and health equipment to the old Hospicio building on Sunday.
Dr Quadros told The Goan that it has been finally decided as a matter of abundant caution to shift the services dispensed by the Margao Urban Health Centre to the old Hospicio building. “Almost all the services, including OPD, casualty, besides immunisation will take place from the old Hospicio building which housed the blood bank and the canteen,” he said.
He said the staff and workers cleaned up the ground-plus one storeyed old Hospicio building on Sunday to host the urban health centre services from Monday.
“From Monday morning, almost all the services rendered by the Margao UHC will be shifted in the old Hospicio building till further orders. We have shifted the equipment and other items to the Hospicio building. Only the HR department will function from the UHC building for the moment,” he said.
Dr Succorro, however, has no idea how long will the Margao UHC will run and operate from the old Hospicio building.
