Gold smuggler arrested by customs at Dabolim airport
The Air Intelligence Unit of Goa Customs arrested a person trying to smuggle 1.16 kg of gold worth Rs 32 lakh. The said person, an Indian national, was travelling from Dubai to Bengaluru via Goa. The gold bars were covered in balloons and were hidden in the toilet of Air India aircraft AI 994. Balloons similar to those containing the gold bars, and a bottle of gel were found upon physical search of the traveller in question. When interrogated , he confirmed that the gold bars belonged to him. The gold bars have been
seized by the customs under Customs Act 1962.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Customs GB santimano, and Commissioner of Customs R Manohar. This is the ninth case of gold seizure by Goa customs since April this year.
