Panchayats Minister Rajendra Arlekar on Tuesday highlighted the importance of providing good governance to the people.
“Merely constructing government buildings is not that important, but what matters is providing time-bound services to the people and ensuring good administration,” said Arlekar, while speaking at the Republic day function organised at the deputy collector's office in Pernem.
Speaking further, Arlekar said developmental works in Pernem taluka are going on in the right direction and appealed for co-operation from the people for overall development.
He informed that the newly-constructed Police Station at Pernem would be inaugurated on January 28, while work on the bus stand is expected to be completed within 3-4 months.
Students of Viscount High School and Shree Bhagwati Devi High School sang patriotic songs.
Pernem Municipal Council Chairperson Smita Kudtarkar, Pernem Mamlatdar Rajesh Asgoankar, Joint Mamlatdar and Chief Officer Amelia Pinto, Pernem Deputy Collector Narayan Gad and Block Development Officer Amir Parab.
