“Work order of Rs 410 crore has been issued in the power department, which includes Rs 113 crore reserved only for underground cabling,” informed Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Parrikar is overlooking the power portfolio in the absence of Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, who is convalescing in a hospital in Mumbai.

In Bardez, underground cabling will be taken up in Porvorim at Rs 39 crore and the Porvorim-Saligao 33KVA line at Rs 7.5 crore.

The CM also said that work of another Rs 411crore has already been tendered by the department in the State.

In Bardez, it includes 220/33 KV gas insulated sub-station along with 220 KV line from Colvale to Pilerne at Rs 140 crore and in Saligao 220/33 KV sub-station along with 220 KV line from Colvale to Saligao at Rs 140 crore. “Work of Rs 55 crore has already been tendered for a sub-station in Badem. It’s at the stage of technical valuation,” Parrikar said.

The tendered works also include underground cabling in Corjuem in Aldona at Rs 10 crore, Cuncolim at Rs 8 crore, Old Goa at Rs 8 crore and Netravali feeder underground cabling at Rs 40 crore.

The CM also announced that work of another Rs 755 crore will be taken on priority in the State including a gas based insulated sub-station of 220/33 KV in Verna along with 220 KV line from Cuncolim to Verna and Verna to Kadamba at Rs 195 crore.

Similarly, substations have been planned in Calangute, and Navelim and Poira at Rs 45 crore each. “Land is an issue in all these three areas but we are trying to sort it out at the earliest,” the CM said.

Underground cabling in Mapusa at Rs 130 crore, Ponda at Rs 50 crore and Vasco at Rs 50 crore is also proposed to be taken on priority.

However, there was no timeline given on when these projects would be completed. Order has been issued to purchase conductors worth Rs 3 crore and 110 and 220 KVA transformers at Rs 10 crore.

Digital meters have already been issued and around 7000 meters have been replaced while the balance
