Govt doctors ascertain Suchana Seth’s mental condition stable

Family of accused seeks fresh mental health assessment

PANAJI

The family of Bengaluru-based AI StartUp founder, Suchana Seth, has sought a fresh mental health assessment for her after a report from the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) Bambolim reportedly confirmed she is mentally fit/stable.

The Calangute police submitted this government-certified report before the Children’s Court on Tuesday. Sources disclosed to The Goan that Seth’s therapist for Parental Counselling in Bengaluru also confirmed that the alleged accused’s psychological health is normal.

“Seth has undergone counseling sessions by a panel of psychologists from the IPHB. They observed that she showed no signs of mental illness, distress, or anger during these sessions. In fact, she answered all the questions calmly...Her Parental Therapist in Bengaluru has also given a report with the same observations,” a reliable source revealed. The medical report is yet to be officially declared in the public domain.

The Children’s Court is hearing an application filed by the techie’s father, Joy Gopal Seth, seeking a mental assessment to be conducted on her by a civil surgeon or medical board.

He contended that it was beyond imagination that a mother, in a proper frame of mind, would commit such a heinous crime against her own child.

The Court has extended the accused’s judicial custody until February 26 while adjourning the application for further hearing to February 21.

Seth is charged with killing her four-year-old son at a Candolim service apartment on January 8.

She has been in custody since then and has not applied for bail so far.
