The decision was taken at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to review the facilities and infrastructure at the complex. Representatives of various departments and corporations including Education, PWD, GSIDC, KTC, Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker as well as the representatives of the schools were present.
Speaking to The Goan, Kuncalienker informed, “We have decided to first concentrate on the infrastructure facilities and side by side take up issues related to mid-day meals, quality of education and creation of common facilities. Taking Cujira complex as the focal point, we want to replicate this model in Mapusa and Margao.”
“As regards development of infrastructure, a new water pipeline will be laid, power sub-station and sewage treatment plant will be set up. Additionally, to ease traffic congestion, connecting road through BSNL property will also be constructed. BSNL has already agreed to provide the required land,” he said.
It was also resolved to appoint Goa Education Development Corporation (GEDC) as the nodal agency for implementation of new initiatives.
“Nonetheless, we have told KTC to make available additional transportation facilities especially from the capital city to Cujira,” he informed.
