A proposal from a private entity to set up a “theme park” and declare a nearly one-lakh square metre area in Pernem as an ‘investment promotion area’ for it, has got the nod of the State government which has now sought objections and suggestions from the public.
The theme park, with replicas of historical buildings and cultural heritage, is proposed by a limited liability partnership firm styled ‘BrahmaCorp Theme Park LLP’ and had got the nod from the Goa Investment Promotion Board back in March this year.
Two separate parcels of land in Pernem aggregating 97,224 square metres have been identified to locate the theme park which claims will highlight folk art festivals, have entertainment activities and traditional food.
The GIPB recommended to the State government to notify Survey No 310/0 (10,524 sq mts) and Survey No 311/0 (86,700 sq mts) as ‘investment promotion area’ and the proposal has now been put before the government in the form of a ‘public notice’.
It said, objections and suggestions under Section 42 sub-section (2) of the Goa Investment Promotion Board Single Window Act, must be submitted to the Director of Industries within 30 days.
