Taking the platform of Goa Liberation Day function to give a clean chit to the BJP that the party is not a communal party, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar on Thursday said the government is trying to bring about a revolution in agriculture, with plans to make Goa an organic farming hub, which would not only give a boost to agriculture, but help promote eco-tourism in the State.
Singing praises of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the Goa Liberation Day function after unfurling the National flag at the district Collectorate, Kavlekar said Goa has a Chief Minister, who takes everyone along in the path of development. And, then he gave a clean chit to the BJP, saying it is not a communal party, adding that the party takes people of all religions, caste and creed together without discrimination.
He made a mention of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his Cabinet colleagues participating in the Old Goa feast mass, saying the Chief Minister’s vision is to take all people together in the path of progress. “The BJP has 27 MLAs, but Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has accepted the support of three other MLAs and is even taking the opposition into confidence. Perhaps for the first time, we have a Chief Minister who prefers to take everyone along,” Kavlekar said.
Saying the government is committed to revive agriculture in the State, the Deputy Chief Minister said the day is not too far away when Goa will be known as an organic farming hub -- a model for other states to emulate. “Once we achieve this feat, our young and educated youth should take to agriculture in a big way and treat it as an industry with the government intending to provide all the infrastructure support,” he said, adding that the recent meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has given new direction to plans to make Goa an organic farming hub.
Kavlekar said a boost for organic farming in the State could as well give a big boost to eco-tourism.
On the archive records, he said all documents lying with the Archives will be digitised and the documents will be made available at the taluka level for the benefit of the citizens. He said the government would also take up restoration of religious and historical monuments, including temples, churches, etc.
In this connection, he said that his Ministry will hold a heritage festival, which will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the State.
Saying that not all industries have been registered with the Department of Factories and Boilers, the Deputy Chief Minister said he has initiated a programme to get all the industries registered with the Factories & Boilers in order to provide safety and security to the workers employed in the units. The Chief Minister is working in that direction, he added.
