Shiv Sena Goa state chief Jitesh Kamat has accused the State government of mocking the judiciary by supporting the criminal builder Venkatesh Prabhu Moni, who was found guilty by the court and sentenced to 6 months rigorous imprisonment in a cheque bouncing case.
On February 4, the District Sessions Court dismissed the appeal of accused Prabhu Moni and ordered his immediate transfer to Colvale Central Jail.
Kamat alleged that from the court the accused builder was taken to the North Goa District Hospital for a health check-up, and after check-up he was admitted in the ward for having diabetes and high blood pressure.
The Sena chief said that 60-70 percent of the prisoners in the jail must be having such health issues, will they all be given such relaxation and condemned the State government for supporting those who cheat the people for crores of rupees.
Moni has defrauded Rasiklal Gangani, owner of Shree Sahajanand Investments Private Limited, of Rs 2.14 crore.
According to Kamat, the accused Prabhu Moni joined the BJP from the Nationalist Congress Party in 2012 and has been with the BJP ever since.
Expressing doubts whether the authorities will have the courage to disobey the court order without political intervention, Kamat has demanded that Prabhu Moni should be immediately sent to jail, the doctor on duty should be suspended and the case should be thoroughly investigated.
