The Health Minister on Sunday sought to allay fears about the shortage of Remdesivir or oxygen in Goa. Numerous states across the country are currently facing a crisis over the shortage of this broad-spectrum drug used in treating Covid-19 and social media platforms flooded with desperate pleas for Remdesivir, oxygen cylinders and Covid beds among other medical requirements.
The second wave of Covid pandemic has hit Goa over the last two weeks with spikes in new cases and deaths recorded every single day. However, the Health Minister assured that the state is fully prepared to meet the demand for Remdesivir.
“I would like to assure the people that there is no shortage of Remdesivir in Goa. We have taken appropriate measures to ensure there is sufficient inventory to treat patients. Every patient treated in the state at government hospitals is our responsibility. We will make sure Remdesivir is available to every patient in need of it,” the Health Minister tweeted on Sunday.
