Govt to allow towers along highway: Sudin

MARGAO

Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday said that the government had decided to allow towers along the National and State highway as per a communication received from the Highway Authority of India in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for digitisation of the country.

He told the media that the Centre had sought the State government’s help and assistance to set up the 4G towers along the National and State highway. “It was my prime duty to support the PM’s mission of digitisation of the country. I am personally of the opinion that today’s youngster want to have 4G at their doorsteps. That’s the reason why the government has taken the decision to have towers all along the highways," he said.

When his attention was drawn to the fact that some of the towers have come right alongside the highway, posing danger to motorists, Dhavalikar said that his office has not received any complaints from the public, adding that towers obstructing free flow of traffic or posing danger to motorists will be removed.
