Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the State government in order to deter people from resorting to illegal fishing will increase the quantum of fines levied against violators of the law in Goan waters.
In the backdrop of many complaints of illegal fishing, Sawant conducted a high-level meeting on Thursday on the issue of LED fishing. After speaking to media persons, Chief Minister said that he has directed officials to frame rules within one month to fine five times the value of fish catch so that people will refrain themselves from such illegal acts.
Many fishermen are using banned LED lights for fishing and also use unauthorised fishing nets with greed to catch more seafood and make more profit. This, in turn, is damaging the ecology.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sawant speaking in another function in the Secretariat has said that all ongoing infrastructure projects will be completed by 2022. “I am giving you a word, all infrastructure projects will be completed within this tenure by 2022,” said the chief minister while speaking at Mtech graduation ceremony of BITS Pilani.
The chief minister said that when people complain about bad infrastructure they directly blame the politicians and not the bureaucrats.
