Three PhD research scholars will be amongst the 111 engineers to receive their degrees at the Fifth Convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) to be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Saturday, September 28.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has consented to be the Chief Guest for the convocation, while Prof (Dr) Sunil Kumar Singh, the Director of CSIR’s National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) is set to be the guest of honour, director of NIT Goa Prof (Dr) Gopal Mugeraya said at a press conference in the city on Thursday.
This year, the NIT will be conferring 69 students with the BTech degree, 39 students with the MTech degree, and three research scholars with the PhD degree, Mugeraya said.
National Institute of Technology Goa started two new streams: Bachelors in Mechanical, and Bachelors in Civil Engineering from last academic year. This is in addition to the existing Computer Science, Electronics and Electrical, and Electronics and Communication engineering.
Mugeraya also proudly announced that the NIT achieved the 87th rank at the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), which he said was the highest ranking of all the newly-established NITs. The National Institutional Ranking Framework ranks around 3,000 institutes, he said.
