Govt to take care of mining workers: CM
A delegation of mining workers submits a memorandum to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the Ravindra Bhavan in Sankhali.

BICHOLIM

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday assured that the State government would ensure the welfare of mining workers in the State.
Sawant gave this assurance to the mining workers when they presented a memorandum to him at the Ravindra Bhavan in Sankhali in the presence of Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, labour leaders Christopher Fonseca and Nilesh Karbotkar.
The workers demanded that the State government should take responsibility for the future of the mining workers after June 6, while Fonseca and Karbotkar demanded that all workers be guaranteed full employment after the establishment of the mineral corporation.
Responding to their concerns, the chief minister said the government is fully aware of the issues which will come up in future and said there is a provision to guarantee full protection of employment to workers.
Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye expressed confidence that the chief minister and the State government are sensitive to the concerns of the mining workers and they would get justice.
Mayem MLA Premendra Shet told the workers that the chief minister would be committed to providing full employment protection to the workers.
