The Govt of Goa Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs launched the Fair Price Shops (FPS) Automation Project on Tuesday at the hands of Governor Mridula Sinha in the presence of Civil Supplies Minister Govind Gaude, Secretary Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rupeshkumar Thakur and others at Nagoa Panchayat hall.
Speaking on the Occasion, Governor Mridula Sinha said there was a need to have clarity and transparency in distribution of ration in all aspects and hence there was a need to modernize the civil supply distribution.
“It’s a pleasure that FPS Automation Project has been launched in Goa and all FPS would be linked with the automation after this launch. This project is for the public benefit. Though all Govt schemes are for public benefit this is yet another project that will benefit a lot if people and I appreciate the Goa Govt for the vision on FPS Automation”, said Sinha.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Rupeshkumar Thakur said that FPS Automation Project system was based on consensus. “We have implemented this system only after taking everyone in confidence. Some FPS owners had expressed grievances and we then increased their margins on food grains and it was also notified. We now have to take a consensus based approach and implement this system”, said Thakur.
FPS Automation Project is a fool proof system which will ensure electronic transaction at FPS and every transaction be recorded and also linked and integrated with supply chain management software. Every time some ration is being given it will reflect in the supply chain software which will further help us to assess how much allocation is to be done to a particular FPS.
The machine used is Aadhar Card enabled and will work on identification and authentication of the beneficiary and hence ration if given will be given only to the correct person and thus black marketing, pilferage and diversion of food grains will end, said Thakur.
“We will also add key duplication system in the software. For example, someone having ration card in Bihar cannot have another ration card in Goa but he can avail supplies from Goa FPS using the ration card he has in Bihar and this will help migrant labourers from across the country. The migrants who are deprived of availing ration supplies from their state will now have a facility to take ration from the state they have migrated to,” said Thakur.
