Requesting Goans to change their mindset towards development, Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo has warned that the State government will not remain silent if people oppose good projects in the State.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a shelter for stray cattle supported by the Calangute Panchayat and run by the Gomantak Gosevak Mahasangh (GGM) at Sikeri-Mayem.
On the occasion, the Calangute Panchayat handed over 56 cattle from Calangute to the GGM.
“Good projects are being planned for the benefit of Goa and those Goans who oppose projects without reason need to change their mindset.’
“The government will not remain silent if some people oppose development projects without any reason. We have formed the government and we have added numbers only for stability.”
“Let people cry foul but we will not stop good projects in the interest of the State,” insisted Lobo.
“If Goa has to be showcased at the international level, then we need to bring in projects into the State,” said Lobo, while citing the example of IIT project which was opposed in South Goa and was later shifted to Sattari.
Lobo said Rs 50,000 would be provided every month to the GGM to take care of
the cattle.
“Stray cattle is a problem created by the people, while the other problem is that of stray dogs. These two are big problems and we are happy that one village here is addressing the problem faced by another village,” the minister said.
Earlier, Narendra Tari of Gomantak Gosevak Mahasangh highlighted the problems faced by them in the rehabilitation of cattle.
Others present at the function included Calangute ZP member Dattaprasad Dabolkar, Mayem Sarpanch Kunda Madkar, Calangute Sarpanch Shawn Martins, Parra Sarpanch Delilah Lobo and Candolim Sarpanch Fermino Fernandes.
