Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday welcomed the step taken by the government to exempt shops, establishments and beach shacks below 50 square meters in size from mandatory fire extinguisher installations.
This pro-people step which will benefit small businessmen, BJP functionary Kiran Kandolkar told the media at a press conference.
Following Supreme Court directives all commercial establishments were required to install fire extinguishers and the district collector had issued directions to the licensing authority not to renew trade licences unless the condition was fulfilled.
Now the Home department with its notification issued on May 17 granted the relaxation to small vendors.
Another former BJP legislator, Subhash Faldessai, said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has rejuvenated the State administration after his return from treatment in the US.
Meanwhile, BJP has maintained that beef traders who have alleged shortage of beef should address their grievances to the appropriate authority and get it solved.
“We are not fully aware of this issue, but if beef traders have any grievance they should approach the appropriate authority and get it solved,” Faldessai said in response to a question over the beef traders’ claims.
