GPCC appoints seven new block presidents

The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has appointed seven new Block Congress Presidents as part of its efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots organisation ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

The appointments were announced by GPCC president Girish Chodankar.

Harichandra Mankar has been appointed Block Congress President of Valpoi, Suryakant Gawade for Sanquelim, Anand Baidkar for Mapusa, Edwin Benny Vaz for St Cruz, Sanjay Narayan Desai for Curchorem, Savio Gomes for Cuncolim and Yogesh Nagvekar for Fatorda.

The new appointments are aimed at strengthening coordination among party workers, expanding public outreach and mobilising people around issues affecting Goa and its residents.

The GPCC said the move was part of its broader efforts to revitalise the party organisation, empower grassroots leadership and strengthen its presence across constituencies.

The newly appointed presidents are expected to address local issues and work towards protecting Goa’s identity, democratic values and the interests of its people.
