GPCC President Amit Patkar offering support to the agitating taxi operators in Pernem.
PERNEM
GPCC President Amit Patkar on Friday claimed that taxi operators at Pernem have been agitating for their legitimate demand to have a yellow-black taxi stand at the Manohar International Airport, but their demands had fallen on the deaf ears of an indifferent State government.
Patkar was speaking while extending his support to the agitating taxi operators in Pernem in the presence of Congress leaders Krishna Naik, Adv Jitendra Gaonkar, Pranav Parab, Virendra Shirodkar and Vijay Bhike.
Patkar alleged that the government is not listening to the woes of common man and warned that if the issue of allotting a taxi stand is not resolved by May 6, Congress would also stand with the taxi operators in their protest.
Adv Jitendra Goankar demanded the resignation of local MLA Pravin Arlekar if he was unable to resolve the issues of Pednekars.
Vijak Bhike claimed that the government had been unfair to the taxi operators and there was no necessity of imposing Section 144 around the Mopa airport and surrounding villages when their protest was democratic.
