It may be recalled that the company had built a jetty at Aronda to transport mineral and coal, and also to facilitate big boats and barges, and started dredging near the mouth of Tiracol river on November 4, 2015. Keri Tiracol, Palye Gram Bachav Samiti (KTPBS) and former Keri sarpanch Francis Rodrigues filed an appeal before the Green Tribunal against the dredging activities. After the hearing, the Tribunal ordered suspension of dredging work. Vanshakti Organisation from Aronda had also filed an appeal before the Tribunal to order demolition of the retaining wall. After the hearing on April 29, the Tribunal ordered to demolish the retaining wall and directed the Maharashtra Captain of Ports to submit a report of the demolition by May 19. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Marine Board has filed an application before the Tribunal to allow removal of sand bar at the mouth of Tiracol river, as there is a danger of terrorists entering Goa through the sea.
