The Goa State Pollution Control Board launched its new website as well as a SAP-based sustainable workflow system in its move to achieve complete paperless administration over the next few months.
The system was launched by Minister of Forests and Environment Rajendra Arlekar on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Arlekar lauded the initiative, stating that the Board going paperless was the way forward.
“I am thrilled that GSPCB has taken the initiative to become paperless and expedite work with more efficiency. By uploading the files online, the dependency on paper will reduce. I did a similar thing while I was Speaker at the Assembly,” Arlekar said.
The system has been installed at the cost of ₹20 crore and will ensure that once a file is inwarded in the department it will move within various sections of the department electronically.
“It is our bid to reduce paper as well as to make the functioning of the Board more systematic, better and transparent,” GSPCB chairman José Manuel Noronha said.
The Board also launched its website, which was shut down after it was targetted by hackers outside India who uploaded their own content on the site. The site is now available both in English as well as in Konkani and has details of all the decisions of the Board, including orders, minutes of meetings, etc.
