Goa Tourism Development Corporation is hoping to start a hanging restaurant and has invited bids for setting it up on the top floor of the multi-level Parking Plaza at Patto.
According to details available in the tender, the restaurant will be called ‘Hanging Restaurant’.
GTDC has also floated tenders for a heavy weight bike service along interstate routes and also for an operator to conduct brewery tours.
“We are planning new facilities for tourists. We will hire around 20-25 motorbikes like Enfield Bullet to rent them out to tourists for inter-state biking,” said GTDC chairman Dayanand Sopte.
He also said that electronic bicycle service provided by GTDC from the Patto parking plaza point is evoking encouraging response and therefore the idea to provide bikes to tourists for inter-state routes came up.
“We have issued tenders to take on board a motorcycle renting company,” Sopte said.
The hanging restaurant will cater to the large number of tourists visiting the capital city and is expected to earn good revenues for the Corporation, he said.
The GTDC had in the past launched a series of innovative services to cater to the tourists, the latest and most controversial being the app-based taxi aggregator Goa Miles.
Earlier in 2011, an electric vehicle tourism initiativeB:Live was launched in partnership with Arcis Tours Pvt Ltd which is providing electic cycles to tourist from Patto, Panaji.
The Corporation has also started hop-on-hop-off double decker bus service for tourist from Old Goa to Panaji.
There are also plans to build a helipad to commence a chopper-tourism service but the proposal is stuck, with clearances from the aviation authorities still pending.
