GUJ welcomes space for Patrakar Bhawan, hike in pension

The Goa Union of Journalists has welcomed all the welfare benefits for journalists that were announced by the chief minister in his budget speech, accepting proposals from GUJ. 

The CM announced allotting space for the ‘Patrakar Bhawan’ in the proposed administrative building at Patto in Panaji. Sawant also proposed to enhance the existing journalists’ monthly pension of Rs 8,500 by Rs 1,500. After revision, the monthly pension amount will be Rs 10,000 per month, stated GUJ in a press release.

The chief minister has also announced e-bikes for journalists. Earlier, a delegation from the Goa Union of Journalists led by GUJ President Rajtilak Naik, GeneralSecretary Vasudev Pagi, and Treasurer Kailas Naik, had submitted a list of demands to the chief minister.

The demands included an independent ‘Patrakar Bhawan’ for the journalist fraternity in Goa, increase in the journalist’s monthly pension amount, electric vehicles for full-time working journalists, housing for full-time working journalists and free travel facility across the state for full-time journalists in the state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited buses.
