The prestigious Gulab Awards 2024 and Felicio Cardoso Journalism Award 2024 have been announced and will be presented on July 20 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, commemorating the 72nd birth anniversary of the late Fr Freddy J. Da Costa, founder of Gulab.
Prabhakar Dattatray Bhide, noted Konkani publisher and owner of Rajhauns Pvt Ltd, has been named Gulab’s Personality of the Year, while acclaimed Konkani writer, journalist, and tiatrist Teotonio Costa will receive the Gulab Writer of the Year award.
Rupesh Samant, Head of PTI’s Goa Bureau and Director of Goa News Hub, has been chosen for the Felicio Cardoso Journalism Award 2024. Veteran tiatrist and freedom fighter Cyriaco Dias will be felicitated for his outstanding contribution to tiatr and the freedom movement, while former judge and Konkani cultural advocate Vincent D’Silva will be recognised for his legal, civic, and cultural contributions.
The function will begin at 3:30 pm and will feature Agnelo Alcasoas as chief guest and Fr Myron Barreto as guest of honour. The keynote address will be delivered by Fr Victor Ferrão. The awardees were selected by a jury comprising Guadalupe Dias, Marcos Gonsalves, Br John M. Afonso, Chetan Acharya, and Philomena Samfrancisco.
The awards are organised by the Fr Freddy J. Da Costa Memorial Trust and the Konkani monthly Gulab.
