Guv opens Canacona edu society's 100-yr celebrations

Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, (Retired Brigadier) Sudhir Sawant, Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson  Ramakant Naik Gawkar, Centro Promotor de Instrucao (CPI) Centenary Organizing Committee Chairman Vikas Desai, CPI General Assembly Chairman Rajendra Desai, CPI Executive Committee Chairman Shambha Desai, Sahitya Konkani Writer Kamlakar Mhalshi were present on the dais.

Inaugurating the programme, Governor Pillai said, ‘Hard work always leads to success. We should keep on trying for that. The work done by the organization is unparalleled and incomparable. I am aware Canacona MLA/ Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have discussed about conducting research related to prevailing kidney disease ailments  in Canacona.

‘We must salute all those who started this school 100 years ago that too in a difficult and in a very fragile situation by being themselves in exile. The performance of the Cankonkars who have reached the big position shows the capacity of Canconcars and we have seen how students of this institution are excelling in the country and abroad today’, Tawadkar said in his speech.

Sepaking further Tawadkar said, ‘Now once again we need to repeat through the pages of past history. We need to provide a direction for the next 100 years and be creative witnesses for the next 100 years. The new education policy is in this direction; we have to learn a lot of new things. Todays, educational institutions are facing various competitions and this is a positive thing and everyone should be prepared to enter the competition. However, the performance of educational institutions in Canacona is exemplary and I am proud to be the MLA here. All the educational institutions of Canacona are my institutions and i will support all thee institutions 100 percent’.

Guest Speaker Brigadier(Retd) Sudhir Sawant, ‘I don't follow any caste or religion, but I am only Indian. Women are the greatest power of the country.. Tara Rani has shown this power. Nowadays girls serving as commandos are also working on the Siachen border. We can't win against terrorism by guns alone, but by joining minds, terrorism can't be done. our youth are the future of the country’.

‘We remember the people who started this organization Centro Promotor and also gave the land for this educational institution, said CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar. Rajendra Desai welcomed on this occasion. Vikas Desai and Kamlakar Mhalshi gave information about the institute and the felicities.

Earlier, the women who have studied from this school and got the titles and earned name and fame were felicitated at the hands of the Governor with shawls, certificates and mementos. The first Gynaecologist in Canacona Dr Uma Yashwant Tilve alias Lalan Nagersekar, Wing Commander Uvena Fernandes (also International Football Refree), Dr Sulbha Pramod Keni alias Sulbha Shivarai Dalal, Dr Seema Chandrakant Porob, Dr Sadhana Bhuto Desai alia Sadhana Shetye, Dr Suvidha Surendra Rane alias Sakshi Nevgi, Manisha Babuso Naik Gaonkar alias Manisha Pawar, Purna Pandurang Phaldesai alias Poorna Prajyot Bhagat, Mallika Dhillon Desai.

On the occasion , the Science Laboratory of Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya was inaugurated by Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar in the presence of CPI Secretary Pundlik Naik Gawkar, Treasurer Ramesh Komarpant, Anil Desai, Ram Desai, Pramod Rane, Suraj Bhaireli, Premanand Naik Gawkar were present on this occasion. First, after singing the national anthem, the students of the school presented the welcome song. The program was moderated by Teacher Melvin Fernandes.  Deepa Desai and Yojana Naik introduced the guests. Manoj Naik Gaonkar introduced the works of felicitees. CPI President Shambha Naik Desai proposed the Vote of thanks.
