Chairman of Goa Haj Committee Urfan Mulla has on Wednesday said he is open for any probe by the Crime branch, SIT or another investigating agency into his educational qualification degrees and certificates.

A day after ex-Haj Committee Chairman Sheikh Jina demanded a probe into his educational degrees and certificate and his promotion as school headmaster, Urfan said an inquiry was initiated against him in 2017 at the behest of Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai during his stint as deputy Chief Minister.

Addressing the media, Urfan said that nothing came out of the inquiry since the officials did not find anything incriminating against him. “The degrees and certificates obtained by me are all genuine. Thousands, if not lakhs of students pass out from the UGC affiliated universities. With these documents, people have rose to become IAS officers”, he said.

Urfan claimed that Sheik Jina has targeted him by raking up his educational qualifications after he received complaints to probe into the alleged irregularities when Jina was the Haj Committee Chairman. “I have received three complaints and we have ordered an inquiry. Rattled over the inquiry, Jina has raked up my educational degrees and certificates without any basis”, Urfan added.
