A youth from Bhatiwada-Nerul was crushed to death by a Maharashtra bus near the Don Khamb Junction in Dhargal on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident took place as the bus, which was proceeding from Kolhapur to Panaji via Pernem, struck the scooter from behind. The scooter rider, Sudeep Ravi Paikar, died on the spot. The accident caused traffic congestion on the highway for some time.
A police team rushed to the spot and regulated the traffic, while conducting an inquest panchanama into the incident.
Police sent the body to the GMC hospital for an autopsy and registered a case against the bus driver.
