Stating that he is closely connected to the land of Goa, Maharashtra Speaker Rahul Narvekar said he had reached the high post because of the blessings of Goans and Gods.
“It is an honour for Goa that I have been elected as speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly," said Narvekar, while addressing a gathering to felicitate him at a function organised by Bicholim taluka BJP at the Bicholim Hirabai Zantye Hall.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, Vallabh Salkar, Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Kundan Falari and former Speaker Rajesh Patnekar were among those present on the occasion.
“Goa Assembly got three speakers from Bicholim taluka and now I became the speaker in Maharashtra, which is a coincidence,” said Narvekar.
“Devendra Fadanvis and Eknath Shinde have made a big contribution by forming the BJP-Shiv Sena government. Shiv Sena MLAs have come together for Hindutva."
Narvekar assured that a Bhumiputra from Goa will serve Maharashtra with efficiency and honesty.
Lauding Narvekar on being elected speaker of Maharashtra, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Narvekar would definitely work to give justice to the country and Maharashtra.
“The right youth leader has been selected by Maharashtra as Narvekar's organisational skills are strong. A common worker like Narvekar has achieved the post of speaker,” said Sawant.
