EDC has joined forces with several trade organisations like the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Goa Small Industries Association (GSIA) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Goa to form ‘EDC Employment Creation Task Force'.
This task force has invited suggestions from general public, which will help in creating more entrepreneurs and generating employment in the state. People can send suggestions by email to [email protected] latest by January 31.
Siddharth Kuncalienker, chairman, EDC, said, "We are telling each and every member of public to send us suggestions, which will help in creating more jobs and more entrepreneurs in the state. The top 10 suggestions shall be shortlisted and invited for a five minute presentation to all task force members. Moreover, the best three suggestions will also be presented an award. All the ten shortlisted suggestions will be sent to the state government for implementation."
The members of EDC Employment Creation Task Force are Kuncalienker, Atreya Sawant (chairman, CII-Goa), Sandip Bhandare (president, GCCI), Rajkumar Kamat (president, GSIA), Santosh Kenkre (vice-chairman, EDC) and S.V. Vernekar (MD, EDC).
Speaking on the occasion, Bhandare said, "When I took over as the president of GCCI, one of my aim was to attract more industries to Goa. Whether you attract industries or promote entrepreneurship, the result is the same, which is that more employment is generated. We are spreading awareness among people so that they just don't sit and wait for a job; rather they become entrepreneurs and create employment within the state."
EDC has already taken a number of steps to create entrepreneurs in the state by launching schemes like Chief Minister Rojgar Yojana (CMRY), Start-up Awards and etc. The latest initiative of inviting suggestions from public is in continuation of its earlier efforts.
Meanwhile, members of public are also informed to send suggestions category wise viz manufacturing, tourism, information technology, infrastructure, as per the format provided on EDC's
website: www.edc-goa.com.
