PANAJI
The Bombay High Court in an interim order has tagged it along with Suo Motu Writ Petition filed back in 2007, over the garbage problem across the state of Goa.
The previous suo motu writ petition, while already disposed, the High Court will now examine the issue of whether directions issued at the time of disposal have been implemented.
"We are informed that there was a previous Suo Motu Writ Petition No.2 of 2007. While that stands disposed of, there remains the question of compliance with various directions issued in that Writ Petition. We will tag the present PIL WP No.20/2017 along with SMWP No.2/2007. We do so also because in the SMWP 2/2007, other local authorities are already parties. While the present PIL is limited to Panaji, we believe the issues affect all local authorities across Goa," the high court observed.
