MARGAO:
The former BJP legislator further said that he has realized the mistakes that led to his defeat in the 2012 Assembly election.
At a media conference called by the Fatorda BJP mandal on Monday to highlight the achievements of the BJP-led government in the state, Damu said the incompetent MLA has failed to even illuminate the streets of the constituency during the last four years. “Ganesh Chathurti is fast approaching and most of the streets are still in darkness. Citizens fear to move around during the night for want of illumination on most of the roads in the constituency,” Damu said.
He further said the MLA has failed to bring a turnaround in the amenities at the government quarters in Fatorda constituency. “The MLA’s closeness to PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar should have been used to provide better amenities to the residents of the government quarters,” he said, while demanding to know whether the residents of Junta Quarters are not voters of Fatorda.
When asked to assess the performance of the Independent MLA in the Legislative Assembly, Damu said he is not happy with his performance. “People of Fatorda have not in any way benefited out of his role played in the Assembly,” he stated.
He said that over confidence and mistakes he committed in the run-up to the 2012 Assembly poll cost him the Fatorda seat. “But I have realized my mistakes now and have again gone back to the people during the last four years,” he said, while urging the people of Fatorda to avail benefits of the various schemes brought by the BJP government during the last four years and half.
