Parsekar fading? No BJP CM candidate

State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that the new chief minister will be decided after the elections by its Parliamentary Board, even as Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had earlier stated that State BJP will face the upcoming assembly polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar. BJP has however ruled out Parrikar’s return to State politics.

Addressing a press conference at its headquarters in Panaji, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said, “Parrikar has already announced during Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s birthday that we will face the elections under the leadership of Parskear. In the end there is Parliamentary Board. After taking all the MLAs into confidence, all the things will be decided.”
“When the chief minister is supposed to be appointed, we have a set-up. Last time too we had announced that Parrikar will be the chief minister. Once the government is elected to power the parliamentary board will decide,” he said.
Questioned on whether Parsekar will be the face of BJP’s campaign, Tendulkar said, “There are many faces. There is Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Ayush Minister Shripad Naik and others.”
