Ever since the Health Minister had prescribed Ivermectin to reduce the Covid severity witnessed in the State, some of the health centres have not stopped receiving calls from anxious citizens whether they have received doses of the tablets.
Take note, the Health Minister’s announcement to start prophylaxis treatment for those above 18 years of age, by treating patients with Ivermectin has only remained on paper.
For, neither the Margao Urban Health Centre nor the surrounding primary health centres have received does of the tablet till date.
That, however, has not stopped anxious citizens to find out from the health centres over the availability of the Ivermectin tablets, only to be replied in the negative by the officials.
Health officials pointed out that they have been providing Ivermectin and other tablets to suspected Covid persons, who have undergone the tests, but the results are still awaited.
The official, however, pointed out that Ivermectin tablets have not been received by the health centres as per the Health Minister’s announcement to start the Covid treatment for 18-plus persons till date.
Health officials have been trying to figure out from their higher authorities whether the Health department had done a re-think on the proposal after the World Health Organisation had warned of prescribing Ivermectin for Covid treatment.
