Hearse van, 3 mobile morgues inaugurated in Fatorda

Hearse van, 3 mobile morgues inaugurated in Fatorda

MARGAO
Goa Forward Chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai inaugurated a new dedicated hearse van and three mobile morgues for Fatorda constituency under the initiative We For Fatorda.

Fr Kinley D’Cruz and the Dean of Rachol Seminary Fr Victor Ferrao graced and blessed the inauguration of van and mobile morgues in presence of Usha Sardesai and former councillors from Fatorda.

Speaking at the inauguration, Fr Victor Ferrao said that Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has been providing much-needed support to the citizens and their families especially in difficult moments.

Reflecting on Goa’s Liberation Day, Fr. Ferrao said that many decades ago Goa witnessed Operation Vijay through which Goa was liberated. He said that time has come once again to restart a new Operation Vijay from today to protect the land, river and natural resources to Save Goa.

“We need to resist the second colonization which has started in the state and must stand firmly with Vijai to take Goa Forward,” Fr Victor said.

Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said that We For Fatorda has launched three mobile morgues and a hearse van. Ten years back we had started this service free of cost for the people of Fatorda, he said.

“Dignity in death should be given to the people who die and it’s my commitment as a public representative to continue the work which I have been doing since the last 10 years,” he added.

The Fatorda MLA said that the government has failed to operationalise a full-fledged morgue in the hospital, which is the reason We for Fatorda is providing this service so that citizens and residents should not suffer when they are in need.

This facility is not only used by the people of Fatorda but also people from neighbouring constituencies, he added.

Vijai said Fatorda was the only constituency in Goa that provided free of cost a Covid ambulance since the beginning of the pandemic and it helped hundreds of patients to reach hospitals in time saving many lives. Fatorda is also the only constituency in Goa which has a 24X7 helpline (8888411111) which is operational since the last eight years. Citizens should make maximum use of this helpline too, Sardesai said.
