The hike in fees for the post-graduate Master in Dental Surgery course at the Goa Dental College has evoked stiff opposition from Independent Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte who claimed that the cost of the course is the highest in the country.
“Goa government has hiked MDS fees to Rs 2-lakh which is now the highest in the country, but fails to keep its promise of 20% salary hike to doctors,” Khaunte said, adding that the current BJP government should roll back the fee hike.
Khaunte said the fees are stif, and beyond the capacity to pay for the average Goan student aspiring to seek higher qualifications to enhance their careers in a very competitive healthcare sector.
