The Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) with the help of Calangute police stopped the cutting of the Boa Viagem hill near Motan Spring at Gavarawado-Calangute on Tuesday.
On learning about the activity, CCF members and locals rushed to the site.
CCF President Premanand Divkar and General Secretary Clotinda Braganza later filed a complaint with Calangute police.
Acting on the complaint, Calangute police went to the site and stopped the work. The police complaint stated that cutting of the hill had been to widen the road up to 6 metres and demanded that police take the JCB into custody and book an offence against the perpetrator.
“We have also filed a complaint with the North Goa Flying Squad and their officials are expected to inspect the site on Wednesday,” said Divkar.
