MARGAO
Three days after the panchayat issued a stop-work order to stop hill-cutting work in the village, the Dramapur-Sirlim village panchayat on Monday resolved to write letters to the South Goa District Collector, besides other departments, to prosecute the persons involved in the illegal activity.
Village Sarpanch Sanjana Chari informed that the Panchayat will make petitions before various authorities, including the District Collector, to initiate action against those involved in the
hill-cutting activity. “The panchayat has taken serious cognizance of the activity. We have already issued a stop-work order to the party, which was involved in the hill-cutting,” she said, adding that the panchayat will pursue the matter with various authorities.
Replying to a question, she pointed out that the owner of the land in question has approached the local body with a sale deed to prove the ownership of the property. The sarpanch, however, said that the owner should produce all the relevant documents, including the permissions, if any, issued by the authorities before undertaking the hill-cutting activity.
