PONDA
The members of the Hindu organisations held a demonstration at old bus stand Ponda and lodged their protest against the names givento the cities, buildings, roads and stations by foreign invaders.
Dr Manoj Solanki of National Hindu Movement and others spoke on the occasion and tried to draw attention of the government towards their demand.
“Almost 56 years have passed since Goa’s liberation, but these signs of slavery are being maintained with pride in Goa. It’s unfortunate. Such names given by attackers to the cities, buildings, roads and stations, need to be changed,” Dr Solanki said.
“Vasco city was named after Vasco-da-Gama. It is unfortunate that this name is not changed though we got liberation five decades ago,” Dr Solanki said.
The speakers demanded that the Archaeological department to announce the Indranarayan temple in Bodhan-Telangana as Hindu temple and conserve it. Ramesh Naik spoke on the issue of Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
“Those opposing the temple at Ayodhya should first know the history and facts of this temple,” Naik said. Members of HJS, Sanatan Sanstha, Ranaragini Cell, Gomantak Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh participated in the demonstration.
